Vaasa 400 - tales of the town
”Vaasa 400 – tales of the town” is our culture-historical basic exhibition showing the city’s history from its foundation to the 20th century. The city’s development and its stages are looked at from the ordinary citizen’s – men’s and women’s – point of view. Shipping, trade and industry are important elements in the history of the city, as well as the city’s seaside location.
The exhibition also presents the rich popular art and early industry in Ostrobothnia: decorative painting of furniture, skilfully carved and decorated wooden objects, Ostrobothnian glass and pottery. Finally, the changes in the townscape are presented by photos and films.
