HELENE SCHJERFBECK AND HER TIME, 2012 Helene Schjerfbeck and her time catalogue (85 p.) has been published in connection with the Schjerfbeck exhibition at the Ostrbothnian Museum in 2012. The catalogue presents the artists and paintings of the exhibition and includes two professional articles about Helene Schjerfbeck. Published in Finnish and Swedish. Price 25 €. ON THE TRACK OF THE MASTERS, 2011 A catalogue with 36 pages about the exhibition "On the track of the masters" of handicraft painters in the 17th century gives a short introduction to the exhibition theme. In the catalogue the 9 painters and the sculptor represented in the exhibition are presented. There are pictures and short descriptions of all the works in the exhibition. The writers of the bilingual (Finnish-Swedish) catalogue are Marko Kasto, Tuula Airola, Anja Salminen and Minna Vihla. Price 5 €. KARL HEDMAN´S ART COLLECTION, 2009 The Hedman Foundation published an art collection catalogue on 15th of June 2009. Vaasa City physician, professor Karl Hedman (1864 - 1931) collected as his life-work an immense museum collection and he made the museum to the institution it later on has been. Karl Hedman’s art collection book contains 970 art pieces, of which basic facts are presented as well as provenance (=origin history), attribution (=artist identification) and comparison, literature and culture historical data. The work specific pictorial essays open a many-sided art and culture historical view to the art works of the collection. The Karl Hedman art collection consist of a large collection of old European art painting and an exhaustive survey of the golden age of Finnish art, with its central element - the so called Stenman pledge – art dealer Gösta Stenman’s personal art collection, which he, due to his unsuccessful business transactions, had to hand over to Karl Hedman. The collection catalogue consisting of 920 pages is edited by museum director Marianne Koskimies-Envall and region art museum researcher Jaakko Linkamo. The demanding photographing work is made by curator Erkki Salminen. The research work and writing of the articles are made by Marianne Koskimies-Envall and the layout and paging design by Jaakko Linkamo. The language of the book is English, but the names of the art works are also given in Finnish and Swedish. The book is priced at 42 € |
